A Simplified Guide of My Website Design Process

Introduction

One of the most common questions I receive from both clients and friends is: What exactly is involved in your web design process?

Are you interested in FigDrop transforming your online presence or simply intrigued by our operations?

Continue reading to learn about my web design process.

These steps are summarised as I don’t want to bore you with all of the technical bits and bobs!

There are 4 main stages of the process which I like to refer to as the 3 Ds and Lift Off! These are:

Discover, Design, Develop and Launch

Each stage includes several steps.

Discovery

1 – Enquiry Form and Initial Call

After sending in an enquiry form or as a result of contacting me, I will email you to schedule an initial consultation call. This call will last around 30 minutes and we will discuss topics such as:

  • Where you are in your journey,
  • What you would like to achieve from our collaboration,
  • Our process,
  • Packages and Pricing,
  • Any queries you may have.

2 – More Information, Contract and Invoice

Following our consultation call, we will give you our services guide which includes all the necessary information to begin our journey together.

If you decide that you would like to proceed with making pixel magic together, we will also send you a contract and an invoice.

3 – First Instalment Payed

50% of the full payment is due before the design stage commences. Upon payment of the first invoice, we will pop you into our work diary as a fully-fledged customer.

4 – Questionnaire Sent and Completed

Now the fun starts! You will be sent a client questionnaire. The questionnaire will need to be filled out by you, before any design work begins. This questionnaire enables us to learn more about your business; the journey so far, brand personality, target audience, your vision, any problems etc. The completion of this questionnaire enables us to create something that is as closely aligned with your dreams as possible. The more information, the closer we can get!

5 – Content Sent to Us

At this point we request that you send to us all content that is needed for us to start working. This includes copy, images, files, videos + other things which may be necessary for your specific project.

6 – Secure Domain and Hosting

If you do not already own domain and hosting, then we will secure a domain and set up hosting with our most highly recommended domain and hosting provider.

If you already have a domain and/or hosting we will discuss the options available.

7 -Branding Board

Through utilising the questionnaire and researching your business, we will produce an initial branding board. This branding board will include a mood board, word type logo, colour scheme and typography. The aim of the branding board is to ensure that we are understanding your vision. Once we have guaranteed that we are on the same page, we then move on to the next step.

8 – Presentation of Initial Concepts of Website Design

At this stage, we present you with our initial website designs.

We offer two revisions per page and want to be certain that you are content with the designs before we start building your online masterpiece.

9 – Installation of WordPress

Quite simply, we install WordPress and connect it to your hosting.

10 – Back end set up

At this point we configure all of the behind-the-scenes settings including email, speed optimisation and installation of other required software.

11 – Building of the website

As it says on the tin: we build your site, encompassing all design elements and functionality.

12 – Final Payment Received

At this point, the second 50% of the full payment is required.

13 – Website Launch and Handover

Wahey! Time for Launch!

After Launching your brand spanking new website, we will give you the login credentials and organise a closing call to ensure you are happy with your website, as well as to answer any burning questions you may have.

14 – Maintenance Plan Starts

We highly recommend opting for our maintenance plan as it includes a number of benefits including security, speed optimisation, analytics reports, and much more.

If you have opted for our maintenance plan, this will start now and we look forward to our continued journey together.

If you have chosen not to opt for our maintenance plan then you are free to explore your new website yourself! 🙂

If in future you do need help, or wish to opt-in at a later date, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
